As I sit here looking out the window of my new store, watching the early morning travellers make their way through the sunbeams, and smells of spring peep around the corner I cannot help but reflect on how amazing life is.
Two weeks ago I could have only imagined myself, where I am, right now.
Growing a tad weary of positively putting affirmations 'out there’ that we would be in a space of loving growth, understanding, spirituality and abundance.
Yet, here we are.
In the most beautiful space that we ourselves created.
Spirit Wisdom is all we would hoped it would be and more. The response from locals and visitors alike has been so beautiful and we both felt like for the first time in a long time ‘we belong’ and are home.
Frogs adorn the windows and spaces around us, which is incredibly uplifting. It is said that Frogs represent cleansing. Earth cleansing as well as spirituality and soul cleansing. And that, is exactly what is happening, to us, yet more so to the town that surrounds us.
This town was abundant. It was incredibly affluent in every sense of the word. It was a town of wealth and business. It was a town of prestige and money. It was a town of productivity and employment. It was the town that built Sydney.
Those skyscrapers you see, work in, dance around to avoid the traffic in that huge Metropolitan, the towns folk of Portland made those for you.
Sydney was built with Portland Cement. Its Earth is in every cell. The town of Portland is in its D.N.A. It breathes because of this town. It grows now because of Portland’s foundation.
We are a strong town. A proud town. Full of strong personalities and an ever beating heart. We were lost once. When the Cement works closed it felt like the breath was sucked out too. The riches and abundance left the town. Only the strong survived. Those that remembered. Those that never gave up hope that one day the town would turn around.
Now. Something exciting is happening to this town.
In 2010 four new businesses opened in Wolgan Street Portland.
We have two new Café’s with the most beautiful foods. We have a gift store selling a multitude of stock ranging from Darrell Lea chocolates to hand made crochet babies wear. And we have a spiritual bookshop, selling crystals, incense, books, Buddha’s, candles and giftware’s.
Something is definitely happening to Portland. You notice it in the new businesses, you notice it in the people, once trickling by, coming in droves, you notice it in the energy of the town and more importantly you notice it in the locals. Those with the big hearts who stuck it out knowing the town would once again thrive. It will be abundant. It will celebrate life. It will create and be productive.
Portland New South Wales. The town that built Sydney. Is now rebuilding itself.
Thank you so so much.
I'm glad I could rekindle the flame for Portland NSW in your heart again..
What kind words.. thanks again.. I hope your life is filled with bright and shiny things

This is a really beautiful post. I know Portland, i used to be friends with a girl who lives there. It's a beautiful little town.
You have a fantastic way with words, Nic, really wonderful. I was as proud and happy to see Portland re-establishing itself as you are just by reading this.
